Registration and abstract submission are now open for the 3rd GLOBEC Open Science Meeting to be held in Victoria, BC, Canada, 22-26 June 2009.
This conference will culminate the integration and synthesis activities of the international GLOBEC programme by providing a new mechanistic understanding of the functioning of the marine ecosystems, in order to develop predictive capabilities and propose a framework for the management of marine ecosystems in the era of global change.

The meeting will comprise workshops, plenary and poster sessions. Up to 12 parallel workshops will be held on the first two days, with the remainder of the meeting held in plenary. The plenary sessions will include open sessions on Ecosystem structure, function and forcing; Ecosystem observation, modelling and prediction and Ecosystem approach to management and invited talks on GLOBEC achievements and Marine ecosystem science: into the future. The deadline for abstract submission is 15 January 2009 and reduced early registration fees are available until 30 March 2009. Please note that we have to limit participation to 400 people and therefore it may be necessary to close registration when our maximum numbers are reached.
Limited financial support is available for scientists from developing countries and for early career scientists worldwide, applications should be submitted to the GLOBEC IPO by 15 January 2009. Further details of the application requirements are available from the financial support section of the meeting website, please note that priority will be given to applicants requesting partial rather than full funding.
